Edward Ngoyai Lowassa (born August 26, 1953) is a Tanzanian politician who was Prime Minister of Tanzania from 2005 to 2008, serving under President Jakaya Kikwete.
Lowassa received his undergraduate degree in bachelor of arts with education University of Dar es Salaam and a Masters Degree in Development Studies from The University of Bath in the United Kingdom. Lowassa did his secondary education at Ilboru Secondary School and concluded his high school studies at Milambo Secondary School in Tabora in 1977. During its two year run, the project will award approximately 100 major reporting grants and provide mentoring to support the best ideas for stories on development issues. Journalists who produce the best stories published or broadcasted in media that reach African audiences, will win a major international reporting trip.
